Catherine "Kate" Lyons retired from Merrill Lynch as a Managing Director in Fixed Income Trading, where she had worked for nearly 15 years, spending the majority of her time on the taxable, investment grade syndicate desk. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Ms. Lyons worked at Bankers Trust Company (NYC) in Structured Finance, where she prepared the analytic models used in the financing structures for large assets such as satellites, aircraft and railcars.
Kate graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences, in 1986. As a Penn student, Ms. Lyons was a member of the Women's Cross Country and Track & Field teams. In 2008, she was inducted into Penn's Athletic Hall of Fame and remains very active in the Penn XC/T&F alumni community.
Ms. Lyons has been actively involved as a volunteer at Penn since her graduation and is currently on Penn’s Board of Trustees. In addition to her role as a Trustee, Kate is a member of Penn’s Athletics Board of Advisors and the Penn Dental Medicine Board.
Ms. Lyons received an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in 1992 and currently serves on the school's Board of Visitors. While a student at Fuqua, Kate was a volunteer assistant coach of the Duke University Women’s Track & Field team, after having competed in the 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials, in the Women’s 1500m track event.
Kate and her husband, Bob, live in Connecticut and have 3 daughters. Kate is currently an assistant cross country and track coach at her youngest daughter’s school.
